Founded in the United States in November 2017, Golden Guardians (GG) is an esports organization owned by the Golden State Warriors. For 2018 Golden Guardians joined the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS). The following year the organization announced the formation of teams to participate in Apex Legends, World of Warcrafts and Teamfight Tactics tournaments. Recently it was announced that Golden Guardians will be one of the teams present to participate in the 2022 Lock-in season. Like its last edition, this tournament will gather 10 LCS teams divided into two groups of five members. Golden Guardian will be in group a along with 100Thieves, FlyQuest, Team SoloMid and Cloud9.
All the teams in this group will have to compete against each other until there are four teams left, which will then advance to the elimination phase to face the teams in group B until one of them wins. The LCS Lock-in is scheduled to begin on January 14 and end on January 30, with the LCS studios being the venue for the on-site finals.
